WOMEN’S PROGRAMS
Women are the social, moral and economic backbone of the society, forming more than half the nation’s human resources through projects that emancipate them from the cycle of marginalization, social and economic poverty. They cannot be ignored, left out, or treated as passive victims. Women and development go together and one cannot succeed without the other. Women have proven over and over again they are effective, skilled, creative and highly reliable when launching social and economic projects.
Leadership training of the network organizations will be oriented, in gender-sensitive approaches, resulting in awareness raising and programming with regards to women and development.
LDI is presently providing and will expand its HIV/AIDS support services to HIV positive woman. It provides a peer model of support.
Services
At the location where services are delivered, women and girls will receive the following:
Advisory Services: on women’s health and reproduction; on nutritional needs
Support Services for those with HIV/AIDS

Support Services for Children: children living with HIV/AIDS and their families
Vocational Training/Skills Building

The first client trainees will learn skills that ensure independent income generation. Research into community needs, capacity assessment and a market survey will assist to identify appropriate courses for training that will lead to employment.
