HIV/AIDS EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAM
There are two areas of HIV/AIDS Education and Awareness. The first is the adult population who acquire HIV/AIDS in a variety of ways, and the second is the youth who, with the appropriate knowledge and education, can be a key factor in overcoming HIV/AIDS.
FOR THE ADULT POPULATION
This Program is aimed at raising public awareness, fighting HIV/AIDS and its mitigating effects through education, opportunities to access quality health care, and counselling. LDI is working towards formulating a Uganda National HIV/AIDS policy, together with international partners on common human rights issues around this topic.
Government Policy
The Uganda government through new draft national policy on HIV/AIDS recognizes the existence of all people who have contracted HIV/AIDS, and will include them in the management of HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support.
We hope that this change will prevent further infection of men to women, and consequently to children.
ANTICIPATED PROGRAM OUTCOME
Reduced rates of infection and prevalence of HIV/AIDS and its effects among the target community.
Increased access to quality health care.
Empowerment and increased self awareness and knowledge about solutions to prevalent problems
A resource centre with statistical information on the HIV/AIDS population in Uganda
MONITORING / EVALUATION / REPORTING
Livelihood Development International follows established evaluation and auditing procedures of all programs and financial transactions.
CONCLUSION
Financial support will enable LDI to implement the program fully and attain its objectives. It will enable LDI to organize for special health care and support.
